Module

Restoring the Army’s Recruitment and Retention

Author: Matt Bennett, Sean Barney and Scott Payne
In The National Security Program

Abstract

This module offers ideas for helping to solve the crisis facing our ground forces by improving Army recruitment and retention.

Description

Promising young officers and experienced NCOs are leaving the Army in record numbers due to the strains of repeated deployments. In response, the Army has lowered its standards to meet its recruitment numbers. These trends endanger the future of the force and the Army’s ability to protect the country. This module offers solutions to these problems by providing increased educational benefits that will help the Army recruit more soldiers and retain better officers and NCOs. It outlines the problems the Army faces, offers the Army new tools to recruit and retain and provides suggestions to roll out your plan to the public.
